Back to my Blog!

After what I consider probably the toughest quarter I’ve had in sometime, I’m back! I have to admit using Instagram has really pushed me away from updating this blog more often than not. I didn’t do much photography the last few months but just last week I got to do something I’ve never done before! I had the opportunity to get on a helicopter and photograph Orange County! Did I mention I’m scared of heights? It actually wasn’t so bad, sure it was cold and windy but from thousands of feet in the air you don’t get that perspective of going 95mph+, it feels as if you are just cruising around at a gentle 35 mph. Photographing in a helicopter is much harder than I imagined it would be, you could compare it to photographing in a car going on the freeway at the same speed. Here are some tidbids from my trip. Thanks to Edwin for inviting me and thank you to Anaheim Helicopters for a wonderful experience! You can find them here on yelp:

Miss America Photoshoot: Behind the Scenes Part 1

So remember the big surprise and the event that I had said tops anything I’ve done so far? This is it. Meet Caressa, a very beautiful young woman who is our subject in todays blogpost. She may look familiar, let me give you a hint*: Miss Virginia 2009 and now Miss America 2010, her name is Caressa Cameron and this is behind the scenes with Photographer Christian Del Rosario.

I’ve been waiting to post this, I wanted to get permission and have been busy and on vacation for the past couple of days/weeks which is why I haven’t blogged in sometime. As aforementioned, this has by far been the best experience in my photography career so far. Getting a chance to work with Christian would be any amateur photographers privilege and honor. Shooting Miss America? Icing on the cake. Being Miss America is definitely an honor, but isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Caressa had a tight schedule and would be in 3 different cities in 3 days. Wow. She didn’t seem tired and her spirits were very high, her personality is great and was definitely a great person to work with.
Christian Del Rosario is an extremely talented photographer and I had the opportunity to work with him thanks to Edwin Santiago whose work can be found on links provided to the right of my blog as well as Christian’s (Attreo Studio) who is now on my “Aspire List”. He referred Christian to do this event and I had the privilege to come aboard to assist and to learn. Since then, I’ve applied some of the things I’ve learned from him and from my standpoint my technique has improved considerably. Not only does he communicate in a professional manner, a key skill in photography, but shows confidence behind the camera and both reflect in his end results. He is skilled considerably in both studio and natural light. Christian also maximizes his camera’s potential getting the most out of it and when he takes his images to post, well, you can see for yourself. Check out his website at: http://www.attreostudio.com/

I hope you guys and gals enjoyed this post. Stay tuned for part 2 I’ll post of some of the shots I took that day. Take Care Everyone!
